Who we areRebel Cow Theatre (RCT) has been making, adapting and performing theatre in Glasgow since 2017 when it was founded by two close friends who met in college while studying Acting, Alison Donaldson and Kyle Paton, and who had a passion for inclusive and socially challenging quality theatre. Led by these two friends Rebel Cow Theatre has produced five performances: Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Antigone by Sophocles and adapted by Alison Donaldson, Elsie and Norm’s ‘Macbeth’ by John Christopher-Wood, Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare and Tales From The Black Forest by Kyle Paton. Our adaptations of Hamlet, Antigone and particularly Antony and Cleopatra included several gender-swapped characters with Antony and Cleopatra having only two male actors in a cast of eight actors. RCT has performed in several performance venues within Glasgow including The Space, a community arts venue, The Old Hairdresser’s, an independent arts venue and Websters Theatre, which used to be the Lansdowne Parish Church. RCT is committed to working with artists who are recent graduates of the performing arts, those who have been out of the performing arts sector for some time but who have professional training in the field and those who identify as LGBTQ+, feminist, other-abled and those of a minority group. We enjoy a positive rehearsal environment where everyone is encouraged to share and explore their ideas without judgement.

Our missionRebel Cow Theatre (RCT) is a theatre company based in Glasgow which supports artists from all backgrounds and generations and gives them a platform on which to perform, gain experience and have their work shown to paying audiences in theatres and performance spaces where they would otherwise not have the opportunity.
|
Our visionOur vision is for the work we make to challenge perceptions and societal norms by adapting and reviving classic plays by playwrights, such as William Shakespeare and Sophocles, and by staging original writing by local artists and dramatists.
